My name is Emily O’Brien and I am a UW-La Crosse graduate. My major is Communications with an emphasis in Media Studies and minors in Digital Media Studies and Design and Art. Proficiency and specialization in Adobe applications such as Photoshop, Premiere Pro, and Illustrator have been rewarding abilities that I have attained through coursework and internship experiences. Throughout these same experiences, I have become proficient in Microsoft Office, Canva, and Procreate. My practical experience interning at a new local business establishment in downtown La Crosse, Wisconsin, creating their logo, marketing, and branding guides has been a satisfying practice as well as beneficial for the business.
Some basic facts about me is that I am from Hudson, Wisconsin, and have a passion to creatively communicate. A great way for me to be creative is to create projects like I have in my courses such as Digital Design for Art Majors, Multimedia Productions, Intermediate Digital Art and Design, and Advanced Digital Art and Design. These projects include a book cover as well as a school production signage design. Projects such as posters, podcasts, a short film, and fun experimental pieces are all things I have designed and created. Many of these pieces can be seen in my portfolio attached above.
Aspirations to go into marketing and advertising and drive results for a business is my goal after graduating college. Landing in a larger Metro area has always been a dream, yet I would entertain working anywhere as I start my career path. I have a lot of ambition when creating content for a company that may include social media, advertisements, website creation, and branding. Even though I have not yet had much professional experience, I have had courses and internship experience that have put me in a position to succeed within the field of marketing and digital design. Whoever hires Emily O’Brien is sure to have a hardworking, dedicated, friendly, results-driven person on their team.
